I really enjoyed reading this article and was pleased with the discussion we had in class. I related to this article in more ways than one and It contributed to how I view Arab feminist's as well as American or Western feminist's. At this time in my life I am just starting to figure out what my views are on political, social, and economic issues that are happening in the present moment. Before reading this article I hadn't realized there was such a tremendous gap between Western and Middle Eastern feminists. Of course I realized that there were some very clear differences between the two societies and cultures but I assumed we were fighting for the same things. So it was not surprising to see the creation of more than one type of feminism. A type of feminism that is molded to become a part of who you are, taking into account your culture and class. Darraj explains her process of finding and exposing that type of feminism that I personally feel like not only relates to the Arabic culture and society, but to many other cultures around the world. She emphasizes that just because the Western culture views a certain task, like cleaning your house, seem unfair to a women does not men that you should follow that example if it is looked upon positively in your culture. To make feminisim a part of you as a person, including your culture.
